Irish students to be hit by change to J1 Visa Programme

Thousands of Irish students could be affected by proposals in the U.S - to change the J1 Visa Programme. A new immigration reform bill currently going through the US Senate is proposing that students applying for the Summer visa will not be able to get it - unless they get a future employer or sponsor in the US to pay a 500 euro fee. If the new bill is passed it will come into force next year. It's expected the fee will deter thousands of Irish students from applying for the visa.
