Irish Water Being Called On To Prioritise Emergency Funding For Glanworth

Water supplies in the North Cork village have been disrupted several times over the past week due to a number of breaks in pipes supplying the area.
Supply has been restored, however there are calls for the water main supplying the village from the local reservoir to be replaced to prevent further prolonged outages.
Speaking to RedFM News, local TD Seán Sherlock says Irish Water are reviewing the situation:
"Irish water has responded to the current breaks, but you can anticipate that there will be further breaks if we have cold weather events. What we want from Irish Water now is a clear commitment to a capital programme of expenditure to replace those antiquated pipes, and that's the bottom line here. I understand that an internal review was taking place within Irish water that reports are being prepared."
