Irish water issue update on Belgooly/Riverstick water works
Works are expected to be completed before next Summer
Irish Water has spent €600,000 so far on the first element of a project to improve water quality and supply in the Belgooly and Riverstick areas..
Locals in the area have long complained about their water quality and Irish Water has committed €1 million to a project which has already seen the construction of a new watermain between the two villages and a planning application has now been submitted for the construction of a new reservoir in Riverstick.
A decision on that planning application is due in the next six weeks with works scheduled to get underway early next year.. However Irish Water says if the planning application is unsuccessful plans are in place to upgrade the existing reservoir
Irish Water has also completed the installation of manganese removal at Belgooly Water treatment plant
The works are expected to be completed before the start of next Summer..
