Irish Water say some apartments currently cannot be metered

Some of the reasons include the age of the building and technical plumbing issues.

It's emerged some apartment dwellers will not be able to save money by conserving water usage as Irish Water has confirmed some of these dwellings will not be metered.

The utility says that due to technical plumbing issues some of the older apartments cannot currently be metered.

It emerged yesterday that almost 750,000 meters have been installed nationwide, which exceeds the company's targets, and plans are in place to have 1 million meters installed by mid 2016.

A second round of bills are currently being issued by the utility coincides with a national demonstration in the capital against the charges this Saturday.

Speaking to RedFM News, Billing Services Manager with Irish Water, Yvonne Harris says one of the benefits of meters is that unknown leaks can often be identified when bills are excessively high.
