The woman, who was in her 50's, was from Limerick but was living in Cork.
She had been holidaying in Vietnam and died at the weekend despite desperate attempts by other holidaymakers and Vietnamese rescue officials to save her.
The woman travelled to the Far East with a group of close friends for what was described as the holiday of a lifetime...
The Department of Foreign Affairs is now assisting the devastated family with making arrangements for the repatriation of the woman's remains.
