Island Off West Cork Coast In Contention To Be First Ever Crowd-Funded Island In The World

An Island off the coast of West Cork is in contention to be the first ever crowdfunded island in the world.
Mannion's Island in Danmanus Bay is one of 5 finalists picked for the mircro nation experiment.
The 4 acre island, which has never been inhabited, is on the market for €150,000.
The price of becoming a shareholder is around €2,900, while anyone wishing to become one of 5,000 'citizens' of the final island can do so for €18.
The shortlist includes islands in the Philippines, Belize, Panama and Borneo.
