ISME says shop owners are feeling "targeted" due to mask wearing enforcement

Shop owners are being targeted in an "orchestrated campaign" to undermine the wearing of face coverings, according to a trade group.

ISME says a number of its members have received letters threatening to make complaints to the Workplace Relations Commission from customers claiming the refusal to serve them without a mask on amounts to discrimination.

It says the letters are based on a template being circulated online in an effort to encourage spurious complaints and undermine public health.

The group's chief executive Neil McDonnell says firms feel targeted - press PLAY
