ISPCC call on Government to tackle Homelessness as a priority.

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has released their pre budget submission where they are calling on the government to tackle the issue of homelessness as a top priority.

Recent figures from the Department of the Environment show that child homelessness outside Dublin is increasing at almost three times the rate of the capital.

Focus Ireland reported that 70 of the 77 families, who became homeless in the capital last month, had never been homeless before.

Leeside, Cork Simon say they have seen an increase in the number of people sleeping rough in the city with 177 people accessing their services between January and June of 2014 and 239 for the same period this year.
