ISPCC Expect Large Volume of Calls to Childline on Christmas Day

The ISPCC is expecting to receive over 1,000 calls to Childline on Christmas Day from children in distress.
Volunteers will be on the end of the phone over the festive season, to speak to children who are neglected, scared, sad or lonely this Christmas.
They charity says substance or alcohol abuse can accelerate over the holidays in many families, and although many will be wake up in houses filled with happiness and joy, for some children the reality is very different.
Childline received over 440,000 calls last year, with 40,000 of those to the Cork branch of the ISPCC.
Speaking to RedFM news Ann Marie Spillane from Cork's ISPCC says it can be a difficult time for some young people:
