It's been five years since the sod was turned on the Cork Events Centre site

The project has been mired by delays since then Taoiseach Enda Kenny attended a photo-call on this day in 2016.
There have been disagreements about funding, a legal challenge and the Covid-19 pandemic since then.
The 6,000 seater stadium was given the green light by An Bord Pleanála in March last year, however no progress has been made on the site since.
Opinion remains divided on whether it will ever see the light of day, however all parties involved in the project are said to be committed to the process.
