Justice Minister To Launch Cork's New Prison Today

The Justice Minister is arriving Leeside today to officially launch Cork's new prison.
The facility, which houses almost 300 prisoners on a six acre site on Rathmore Road, was opened last February and brought an end to the highly controversial practice of "slopping out".
The €50 million facility is also the first prison in Ireland to pilot a new visiting scheme which offer prisoner's and their families a unique visiting experience and encourages good behaviour with a tiered system.
