Khan family deportation case transferred to Cork

The Khan family who were facing the prospect of deportation earlier this week now face another anxious wait to find out their fate. 

17-year-old Coláiste Éamann Rís student Zubair Khan, his four siblings and their parents were due to be deported yesterday however after the intervention of the Justice Minister, he and his brothers Umair and Mutjuba were able to return to school this week.

His oldest brother Hamza and his parents met with immigration officials yesterday hoping to discuss their case after thousands signed a petition calling for the family to remain in Cork.

However they were informed in a letter that their case is being transferred to Cork to be dealt with later this month. 

They were accompanied by Eddie Burke, ethos coordinator of the Edmund Rice Schools trust today, and he gave this update to RedFM News:
