Kinsale Community Group calling for guidelines on solar development
Jagoes Mills Action Group is appealing the planning granted for a solar development outside the town
The call from the Jagoes Mills Action Group comes on foot of the County Council's recent decision to grant planning for the development of a 32-acre, 5 mega watt solar power plant without any prior consultation with the local community.
The group say they will be appealing that decision and add that while they support the Government's renewable energy target they've expressed serious concern at the lack of national guidelines for such developments..
Tom Coyne from the Jagoes Mills Action group told RedFM News that he believes planning is being granted to solar power plants on an ad-hoc basis without proper consideration for the natural environment or local community concerns.
