Kinsale paralympian accuses Aer Lingus of discrimination
One of the country's most famous paralympians claims he was discriminated against after he was unable to board an Aer Lingus flight in Heathrow last night as no-one was available to carry out a wheelchair transfer John Twomey, a sailor from Kinsale, had been travelling back to Cork from South Korea when the incident occurred. He had been due to fly at 10.15pm but had got to London on time to make an earlier flight however the disability support service at the airport were unable to organise the lift-on as they were too busy. Aer Lingus says a request for a lift-on service has to be made 48 hours pre-departure to ensure the required service is available and regretted that they were unable to accommodate the request.
