Large Cigarette Seizure on Cork's Northside
More than 12,700 cigarettes, 16kg of unstamped tobacco and two cars were seized on the Northside of the city last evening.
The contraband was discovered by Revenue officers and the gardaí following the search of a business premises and two houses as part of the intelligence-led "Operation Carzone"
A man in his 40s and woman in her 60s, both Irish, were questioned and a file is being prepared for the DPP. Local members of An Garda Síochána assisted with the operation.
The combined value of the seized product is €14,000, representing a loss to the Exchequer of approximately €11,100.
