UPDATE: LATEST - Police Confirm 58 Dead & Up to 515 Injured in Mass Shooting

Las Vegas police say at least 58 people have been killed and 515 injured in the shooting.

UPDATE AT 16.00 PM

The US President has described the countires worst ever mass shooting, which left 50 people dead and more than 400 injured in Las Vegas, as "an act of pure evil   "

A gunman fired an automatic weapon from a high-rise hotel on the famous strip into a crowd attending an outdoor concert. 

Police say they found the gunman - who's been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock - dead in his hotel room, and at least ten rifles.

More than 400 others were taken to hospital from an outdoor concert in the city.

Swat teams killed the gunman, Stephen Paddock, after using explosives to get into his hotel room.

UPDATE AT 12.05AM 

Police say the suspect has been shot dead - he has been named as local resident 64 year old Stephen Paddock.

Officers say they are also confident that they have located a female person of interest Marilou Danley.

More than 50 people have died and over 200 injured - Las Vegas Police

The Department of Foreign Affairs says it's not aware of any Irish people caught up in the Vegas shooting. 

They're closely monitoring the situation as it develops.

More than 20 people have died in a shooting in Las Vegas. 

Over 100 people are injured. It's understood a number of police officers are among the dead.

UPDATE AT 7.55AM

A hospital in Las Vegas says at least two people are dead and 24 injured, as police hunt an active gunman. An area on the city's famous main strip has been sealed off.

Police have sealed off an area near the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

It is believed the shooting happened at a country music concert.

What sounded like automatic gunfire could be heard in video from the scene posted on social media.
