LE Samuel Beckett Returns to Cork Today
The LE Samuel Beckett is returning to Haulbowline from the Mediterranean today.
The Naval Vessel was the sixth Irish ship deployed to assist the Italian Authorities with search and rescue missions.
Since leaving Cork Harbour on the 23rd of September the Samuel Beckett has rescued over 3,000 people and recovered 12 bodies.
Irish participation in the humanitarian mission to date, has resulted in the rescue of over 15,600 migrants.
