LE William Butler Yeats Rescues 149 Migrants In Mediterranean

Irish Naval Vessel the LÉ William Butler Yeats has rescued 149 people from the Mediterranean off Libya.

The Irish naval vessel is in the Mediterranean as part of efforts to deal with the numbers of people using the waterway as they flee war torn countries. 

The migrants were found drifting in a rubber craft about 47 nautical miles North East of Tripoli this morning.
 
They are now receiving food, water and medical treatment where required.
