Leaving Cert students urged to take every possible step to avoid contracting Covid 19

Concerns have been expressed ahead of the Leaving Cert exams that if a student contracts Covid 19 or is a close contact they will not be allowed into the exam hall.
Leaving Certs are being urged to take every possible step to avoid contracting Covid 19 so they can sit their exams next month.
Cork based ASTI President Ann Piggot is reminding students that there will be no option to re-sit exams.
Speaking to RedFM News Ann Piggot says Leaving Certs need to take extreme care at this time.
"If they're depending on the written exam it's very important that they take care at this point, because they don't want to be deprived of the chance if they're deemed close contacts or if they feel sick on the day.
"They will have calculated grades as a back up, but there is no chance to sit a repeated exam paper in a written format this year."
