Liam Miller Tribute Match To Take Place Today

The sold-out Liam Miller Tribute Match takes place in Pairc Ui Chaoimh later today with President Michael D.Higgins set to attend alongside family and fans of the late football star.

The former Republic of Ireland, Man UTD and Celtic player from Ovens passed away  in Marymount Hospice last February after losing his battle to cancer.

 

A 45,000 strong crowd is expected with kick-off at 3pm this afternoon.

 

People attending the Liam Miller Tribute match today are being advised not to abandon their car in an illegal parking spot as tow-away will be in operation.

 

The advice to the public is to walk to the stadium and use public transport. Shuttle buses will be in operation and Bus Eireann will be operating services between Mahon Point and the city and the bus station and Parnell Place Bus Station.

 

Those working in the city are being advised to plan their journey home as traffic is expected to be heavy at rush hour which will coincide with the finish time of the game.

 

Speaking to RedFM News Insp Finbarr O'Sullivan of Anglesea St Garda Station says as well as tow-away operations, those who abandon their car may also receive a fine:

A shuttle bus service will operate from Lapps Quay at 12:00 hrs at a 10 minute frequency to Monahan Road 

Shuttle bus from Kent Railway Station to Monahan Road will also commence at 12:00 at a 20 minute frequency to Monahan Road 

Normal route 202 from Merchant's Quay at a 10 minute frequency to Blackrock Road
