Licence for US routes needs to be issued now if March deadline is to be met

Management at Cork Airport say that the airline planing to operate Cork transatlantic flights will have to receive a US license to operate the routes in order to ensure a March take off.

It follows comments by Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary who has rowed into the long running battle over the introduction of a Cork/US airlink..

The low fares airline boss has accused the European and US authorities of lacking the political will to grant the licence
