Lights out at two Midleton housing estates

Two housing Estates in Midleton have been plunged into darkness in a row over an unpaid bill. Residents in Carraig Liath and Ros Na Coille off the Old Youghal Road have been forced to stay indoors after dark since the 26th of January after Electric Ireland pulled the plug because of an unpaid lighting bill. The two estates were both designed by the Respond Housing Association and built in 2007 and Respond say that the contract for the lighting in these Estates rests with the County Council. Local resident Catherine O'Riordan told the Neil Prendeville Show that the switching off of lights is putting lives in danger. Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
