Lisheens House reports increase in numbers accessing its service

The number of people accessing the services of a West Cork suicide prevention charity is on the increase.

Lisheens House says the increased figures are a sign that the stigma surrounding mental health is dissipating.

Provisional data from the HSE's National Office for Suicide Prevention shows that 392 deaths by suicide were recorded in Ireland in 2017. That's down on 2016 figures and 33 less deaths than 2015.

Speaking to RedFM News Manager of Lisheens House Mick Keirns says people are more comfortable to talk about their mental health and that trend is particularly noticeable with teenagers:
If you have been affected by any of the issues raised in this report the number for Lisheens House is 023 88-88-88
