'Living in hell', says a resident at a Ballyvolane halting site

A resident of a halting site in Ballyvolane has described life there as like "living in hell". The site was first opened in 1980 as a temporary site for 10 families, but three decades later it is home to 34 families with no access to running water, and all toilet, shower and cooking facilities are shared. The residents says the City Council has neglected the site for the past 30 years which is littered with abandoned caravans and makeshift buildings, half working street lights and the entrance and exit roads are full of potholes. AUDIO: Margaret McCarthy who was one of the first residents on the site told RedFM News that life on the halting site is very depressing Click the PLAY button above to hear.
