Local Authorities under fire in Oireachtas over duty of care to homeless
A Fine Gael TD says local authorities have failed in their duty of care to homeless people.
The Oireachtas Housing Committee is hearing submissions from the Peter McVerry trust on vacant housing and derelict sites.
Figures show local authorities were offered 7-thousand properties by NAMA but only took up 2- thousand - 500.
Fine Gael's Fergus O'Dowd says that's simply unacceptable:
