Local authority confident city can cope with increased traffic

A number of new developments are in the pipeline and are expected to lead to more traffic.

Cork City Council say it's confident that the city can cope with increased volumes of traffic and people which a number of upcoming developments are likely to create.

It follows calls from Cork Business Association for strategic planning to match several major projects coming on stream and a €300 million plan being unveiled by City Council tomorrow.

Concerns have been expressed about the lack of accommodation in the city with auctioneers reporting incoming calls from  major companies seeking accommodation for their employees.

The spotlight has also been put on increased traffic volumes and pressure on public transport.

Speaking to RedFM News city centre coordinator with Cork City Council Paul McGuirk says accommodation and transportation will be part of discussions at the launch of the plan this evening.
