Local Macroom Theatre Suffers severe Fire Damage
Three units of the Cork County Fire Brigade attended the scene of a Commercial Fire on Main street Macroom this morning.
The fire was reported in the Briary Gap Theatre just after 8am and Emergency Services were on the scene at 8.30am.
Transition year students in Macroom were evacuated from their school this morning following the fire.
Nearby St Mary’s Secondary School 4th year students who were holding a sleepover with their Deputy Principle were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The local theatre hosts music concerts, cinema, youth theatre and drama groups.
The Fire Brigade remain at the scene but have brought the fire under control.
It's not yet known how the fire started and there are no reports of any injuries.
