Local Shandon group to benefit from RedFM Shandon Clock appeal
A local group based in Shandon is to benefit from the funds raised by listeners to the Neil Prendeville Show to fix the Shandon Clock.. Yesterday afternoon the City Council announced that they finally found the cash to pay for the repair of the iconic clock which stopped working about nine months ago.. The move followed an intensive 48 hours in which the Neil Prendeville Show launched a campaign to raise 40,000 euro to fund the repairs as the Council claimed it didn't have the cash available until next year... This morning all donors to the Fix the Shandon Clock fund were contacted and asked if they were happy to allow their donations be given to a chairty in the area instead or have it returned Neil Prendeville broke the good news to Geraldine McCarthy from The Shandon Area Renewal Association who was thrilled with the unexpected windfall Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
