Locals Hit Out At Planning Decision Deferral For Planned Skibbereen Plastics Factory

Cork County Council granted planning last year to Daly Products to build the facility on Baltimore Road
Residents living in the vicinity of a planned Plastics Factory in Skibbereen have expressed their frustration after An Bord Pleanála deferred its decision on the facility.
Last year Cork County Council granted permission to Daly Products, whose parent company is U.S based RTP, to build the facility on Baltimore Road which is just outside the town.
However opponents of the project appealed the decision to An Bord Pleanála amid fears about emissions from the factory and concerns about its impact on tourism and local fishing operations in Roaring Water Bay.
Hundreds of people turned out at a heated public meeting in the town this month where the Save Our Skibbereen campaign group vowed to continue their fight against the facility even if An Bord Pleanála rule in favour of the factory.
Speaking to RedFM News Brendan McCarthy of Save Our Skibbereen says they won't back down even if An Bord Pleanála doesn't rule in their favour:
