Lusitania artefact to be displayed in Kinsale

A new artefact recovered from the Lusitania is expected to be put on display in Kinsale.

Diver Eoin McGarry recovered one of the telegraph machines from the doomed liner from the ocean floor off the Cork coast on Saturday morning .

The ship was sunk by a torpedo from a German U-boat off the Old Head of Kinsale in 1915 Almost 1200 people lost their lives in the sinking, including around 140 Irish people.

The Heritage Minister Heather Humphreys said the artefact would be conserved and displayed locally.
