MABS warns Holy Communions are driving families into the red

A recent survey found that the average family is spending between €1200 and €1500 on First Holy Communion.
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service says they're witnessing an increase in numbers of clients who are struggling with the cost of family holy communions.
It follows a recent survey which found that the average family is spending between €1200 and €1500 on First Holy Communion.
MABS says people are failing to budget for the event and as result resort to money lenders.
Speaking to RedFM News Money Advice Coordinator with Cork MABS Margaret O'Neill says many families aren't planning far enough in advance:
