Members of the UNITE trade union working for the Irish Archaeological Consultancy are taking part in a 24 hour work stoppage, which the union says is a direct response to the company's refusal to engage with workers collectively through their union or the WRC.

Members of the union are staging a protest in Macroom Town Square this afternoon after IAC contacted members working on the Macroom Bypass last Friday to give them a weeks notice of termination.

Speaking to RedFM News, union rep, Muiris Wade says he doesn't think the move was a union-busting tactic.
