Mahon set for major regeneration project
A major regeneration project for the Mahon area is set to be progressed after owners of derelict buildings in the area were identified.
Dereliction has been a major problem in the Avenue De Rennes area of Mahon for several years and it's hoped derelict buildings will now be acquired for mixed use housing.
It's been confirmed to RedFM News that compulsory purchase orders are being considered if necessary.
A site has also been identified in the vicinity of the area for a multi purpose centre incorporating a library and a youth centre.
Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Des Cahill says the current services in Mahon deserve better buildings and the people in the area deserve regeneration in areas that are run down and lying idol for too long:
