Major Rescue Operation Underway Off Kinsale Harbour

A major rescue operation is underway off the Cork coast - after a sailing vessel struck rocks. It has been reported there are up to 30 people onboard the Tall Ship Astrid - a Dutch training vessel. The ship ran aground near the Sovereign Islands - to the west of Kinsale harbour - at around midday. The Kinsale and Courtmacsherry are among four lifeboats which have been tasked. The Waterford and Shannon based Coastguard helicopters are also currently at the scene. At least 12 people have so far been safely taken off the vessel.
