Man (20s) in stable condition following Ballyphehane stabbing

A man in his 20s is in a stable condition in hospital after he was stabbed several times in Cork city last night.
He was seriously assaulted after a brawl between two groups of people in Pearse Square, Ballyphehane, at about 9.30.
Some of the people were armed with knives and bats.
Local councillor Shane O'Callaghan says the incident is particularly disgraceful at this time.
"It's a shocking incident, particularly at a time when people have been advised that there's a medical emergency and that they've been advised to not leave their home unless it's absolutely necessary.
"For something like this to ever take place is shocking, but it's particularly shocking in circumstances where the people concerned should have been at home, they shouldn't even have been out."
