Man (39) remanded on bail after being charged with claiming pandemic unemployment payments while in Pakistan

Bandon District Court heard Khurram Cheema of Kippagh Dunmanway was charged with 20 offences today.
The total sum of money stolen is €6,650.
Judge Colm Roberts was told the sums taken range from €203 and €350, with one amount of €1,176, on various dates between April 21st 2020 and September 29th 2020.
The money was withdrawn from the AIB Bank on Patrick Street, Cork City.
Gardaí raised no objection to bail once Cheema reside at his home in Dunmanway, abide by a curfew, be contactable at all times and surrender his passport.
Defence solicitor Graham Hyde said his client had recently successfully applied to bring his wife and children to Ireland from Pakistan and was willing to abide by the bail conditions.
The court heard Cheema was working as a self-employed courier and had previously worked as a taxi driver.
He was granted free legal aid and ordered to appear at Bandon District Court again on May 10th.
