A man in his 40s is in custody at Togher Garda Station this evening following an incident in Bishopstown earlier today
Gardai have confirmed to RedFM News that a number of officers were called to the scene at around 12:30pm and arrested the man.
Earlier, it was revealed that at around lunchtime today members of a group known as the Child Protection Awareness Programme surrounded a man outside a coffee shop on the Bishopstown Rd, Bishopstown and alleged he made contact with an underage girl.
They questioned him at the scene and Gardai were alerted.
The man can be seen protesting his innocence in a video the group subsequently posted on social media
Investigations are ongoing.
