Man Arrested By Gardai After Child Discovered Driving Mini-Scrambler Unsafely In Public Green In Cork

The man has since been released to appear in court at a later date
A man who was arrested by Gardaí after they found a child, aged 10, driving a mini-scrambler motorbike dangerously around a public green in Cork has been released.
The incident happened at around 5.30 on Thursday evening when officers responded to a complaint that the bike was being driven unsafely at a park in Fairhill.
As Gardaí moved to confiscate the bike, a man attempted to intervene and then tried to set the bike on fire.
Gardaí arrested him for a public order offence.
The man was brought to Gurranabraher Garda Station before being released to appear in court at a later date.
It comes as parents are being urged not to buy quad bikes or scramblers as gifts this Christmas.
Three of the six people who died in crashes involving a quad bike or scrambler from 2014 to 2019 were aged 18 or under.
Road Safety Authority spokesperson, Brian Farrell says they shouldn't be used in residential areas:
