Man detained following Farranree firearm incident
It's understood the gun was an imitation weapon.
A man is being detained in hospital following an incident in Farranree this morning.
It's understood the 39-year-old was found brandishing an imitation firearm outside a crèche in the area.
The guards, a detective unit and the armed response unit responded to the scene where they disarmed the man and arrested him under mental health legislation.
Gardaí in Mayfield confirmed to RedFM News that the man involved is now being detained in hospital.
A young mother says she was taking her young son to the crèche when she was approached by the man on Cushing Road shortly before 9 o' clock.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Claire described the scene.
