Man dies following fatal shooting in Cork

The incident happened on Plunkett Road in the suburb of Ballyphehane.
Gardai are investigating the death of a man in his 40s in what is believed to be a shooting accident on the southside of the city this afternoon.
It's understood that the man suffered fatal gunshot injuries when he and another man were handling the gun at a house on Plunkett Road in Ballyphehane.
Emergency services responded to the incident but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardai have taken possession of the shotgun which is legally held by one of the parties involved in the incident.
It's understood Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster is expected to carry out a preliminary examination at the house shortly.
