Man Drowns In The Beara Peninsula

A man in his early twenties has drowned in the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. The Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat was launched at lunchtime to search for the man- who was reported missing this morning. It was joined by the coastguard helicopter, Derrynane inshore rescue and the Castletownbere Coastguard. Local boats also joined in the search and at around 2.30pm this afternoon one of them spotted a body in the water. The RNLI lifeboat took the body to shore, where the man was pronounced dead by a local doctor.
