Man in critical condition after road traffic collision near his Charleville home

The incident happened at Deerpark when the man was struck by a jeep in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A North Corkman remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning after being injured in road traffic collision near his home in Charleville over the weekend.

The 33-year-old was walking on the N20 Cork-Limerick Road at Deerpark just outside Charleville when he was struck by a jeep being driven at around 3.20am on Sunday morning.

The 46-year-old driver of the jeep and his passenger, raised the alarm and remained with the injured man until the emergency services arrived.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the collision and was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery but remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who saw the collision or travelled the road between 3am and 3.30am and saw either the pedestrian or the jeep to contact Mallow Gardaí on 022-31450.
