Man injured in Youghal explosion

He was airlifted to hospital for treatment to injuries sustained in the explosion at a welding firm outside the town  


A man in his 20's is being treated for injuries sustained in an explosion at a welding firm outside Youghal.. 

Two units of the County Fire Service responded to the scene at C and B Services in Millenium Court, Foxhole shortly before 9.30am, after an oil tank exploded as a plasma cutter was being used.. 

The injured man was knocked unconsious and he also sustained burn injuries in the incident.. 

He was airlifted to Cork University Hospital for medical treatment.. 

The Health and Safety Authority have been notified and their inspectors are en route to launch an investigation into the cause of the accident.
