Man Jailed For Shooting Cork Woman In Neck Under Protection In Cork Prison

It's emerged that the man who was jailed for 11 years for shooting a Cork woman in the neck is under protection in Cork prison.
The Evening Echo reports that Gavin Sheehan of Shanakiel has been place in the challenging behaviour unit for his own protection.
The move comes after it was revealed at the sentence hearing on Tuesday that the 30-year-old was a previous garda informer - something which gardaí present said they could not comment on.
Ciara Sheehan was the victim of the shooting after receiving a bullet to the neck on May 15th last year when sitting in the front room of her boyfriend Dylan Cunningham's house.
Her mother Susan O'Mahony spoke out on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM yesterday and said their lives have been ruined by the incident and the ordeal for them is still not over.
Susan says her daughter and family are now the subject of online abuse and threats and she's in the process of trying to relocate from the housing estate she's living in:
