Man (Late 20s) Who Was Shot By Gardaí In West Dublin Has Died

At around 12:15 this afternoon, officers responded to reports of a public order incident at a business in Hartstown.

Gardaí chased a man who was armed with a knife at the scene in Manorfields Drive.

The man threatened unarmed officers and members of the Armed Support Unit who arrived later.

Gardaí say "less than lethal" options of force were used but were unsuccessful.

A number of shots were then fired from an official Garda firearm.

The man was treated at the scene before being transferred to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he has since passed away.

GSOC has been notified of the incident and are currently at the scene.
