Management at CUH request public visit GP as long delays in A&E

Management at Cork University Hospital have requested the public contact their GP before presenting at the Emergency Department.

The CUH has been exceptionally busy in recent weeks, and patients presenting with minor ailements have been experiencing long delays.

Figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwifes Organisation show that the CUH currently has the worst overcrowding in the country, with 38 patients currently waiting on trolleys for admission.

Hospital management say they are doing everything possible to minimise the delays but they are requesting that, where appropriate, the public explore all options before attending the A&E unit.
