Mandate accuses management at Dunnes Douglas Court of intimidation

Mandate has accused management at some Dunnes Stores outlets of attempting to intimidate their members. The accusation comes as the company is hit by a 24 hour strike today over Dunnes' use of temporary or 'zero hour' contracts - and a refusal by the company to negotiate over grievances. Over 600 workers in 13 stores across Cork are taking part in the work stoppages as Dunnes refuses to engage with their union Mandate. There will be no picket outside the North Main Street store as the workers there are members of SIPTU, however Mandate says they do have their support. Meanwhile... Mandate says a manager at Douglas Court contacted some of their members at short notice yesterday and cut their working hours. Speaking to RedFM News the union's spokeswoman in Cork Lorraine O'Brien says the move was clearly an effort to intimidate their members ahead of today's action Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
