Mandate slams Tesco pay cut proposals

There are eight Tesco stores located Leeside.

Mandate say low paid workers wages should not be used to fix losses incurred by Tesco Ireland.  

It follows claims by the union that the supermarket chain intends to issue new contracts for employees who have been with the chain for the last 20 years. 

Mandate say the changes include a loss of over €6,500 per year as well as a loss of some allowances but that Tesco have agreed to negotiations.

There are eight Tesco stores located Leeside and workers affected are set to be compensated for the loss of earnings and the retailers says changes are needed as new contracts are required to suit current customer needs.
