Meeting scheduled to discuss increase in commercial rates

Cork Chamber are to set to meet Cork City Council to discuss proposals to increase commercial rates by 2.9%.
Concerns have been expressed about the impact an increase may have on struggling businesses in the city and calls are now being made for alternative funding plans.
It's been reported that the increase has been sought due to a €1.6 million deficit in the 2017 budget.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork Chamber Chief Executive Conor Healy says the proposals are poorly timed given the spate of new developments coming on stream in the city centre:
