Meeting sought over road conditions in North Cork

An urgent meeting has been sought between the local authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland on the condition of two national roads in North Cork.
The N72 and N73 have been described as an "absolute disgrace" with the surfaces on both roads causing tyre blow-outs and lorries to jackknife.
The council has applied for funding from TII for some upgrade projects on the roads, but despite the condition of the roads their requests have been unsuccessful so far.
The Irish Examiner reports that several councillors have expressed fears that fatal accidents will occur if sections of the roads are not fixed shortly.
